To meet the needs of their customers, the Oman Arab Bank, recently needed to revise the set-up for bank statement documents. At the same time an optimization of the internal and external document workflow would be welcomed. The Oman Arab Bank turned to Interform A/S, a leading supplier of iSeries solutions and services, for a solution that would meet their needs with regards to software that supports both English and Arab character sets.

Mr. Srour, IT-Manager from Oman Arab Bank, states: “It was very difficult to find a true Arabic compatible solution. Many applications available today do not support our characters or the ability to present the text from right to left. However Interform A/S has been extremely quick to adapt the application to our Arabic requirements and now we have a solution that gives full support for Arabic characters.”

In pursue of being market leading the Oman Arab Bank cost optimization is in focus. That is why they at the same time wanted to improve the document flow.

“InterForm400, the solution provided by Interform A/S, also makes it possible for us to improve the document workflow internally. We can create business documents and forms without the need for pre printed stationary. Moreover we can distribute documents as print, fax or email. This means, that the time each employee uses on manual handling of paper will be reduced dramatically. The reduced time for manual handling will increase the effectiveness of our daily work. Another aspect of this feature is that it enables our customers to receive their information on bank transactions in PDF format and electronically store them.”

“All in all the InterForm 400 supports our general strategy of becoming as effective and customer focused as possible!” says IT-Manager Mr. Srour from Oman Arab Bank.

Mr. Poul Christiansen, Product and Sales Manager at Interform A/S, states: “InterForm400 operates on the IBM ISeries/i5 platform and is used by well over 1500 customers world-wide. The requirement for handling multiple characters in the same data base is the huge challenge faced by most of our customers. That is why we started developing support for Unicode and a part of this was supporting the Arabic character set. Mr. Srour has been a very valuable resource for reaching the goal of becoming Arabic compatible.”
